Fiction - Proofreading

We proofread the whole document for spelling, grammar, hyphenation, capitalisation, mispunctuation and other errors (see FAQs), and we also run our special software.

So, the traditional eagle-eyed process, plus much fine-toothed comb, forensic detective work.

Proofreading and copy-editing can be done in Track Changes in Word, as ‘sticky notes’ in a PDF (prices may vary), or on a good old A4 paper printout.

Fiction - Copy-editing

Copy-editing is the proofreading service (as described left) plus much more:

- revision and suggested deletion;
- comments on under/overwriting, inconsistency, phrasing and usage;
- appreciation of style, tone and readability;
- alerts to cliché, tautology and clumsy writing.

In short, copy-editing provides a deeper and more considered reading of your text.

Fiction - Pay Per Error

You set a limit on how many errors you wish us to find. The document is checked until we reach either your limit or the end of the text. Any difference is refunded.

Example: You set a limit of 10 errors and pay £20.00. We find only 4 errors, and refund you £12.00. This option is cheaper if your document is 99% accurate, but you need a final quick check.

Errors will be sent as a report in XL showing page, line number, error, correction and context. If your document has more errors than the quantity you have paid for, we will let you know that further proofreading is advised.

Up to 10 errors    £20

Up to 20 errors       £40
Up to 35 errors     £70
Up to 50 errors    £99
